Martindale cycles

The strength of the fabric, also known as abrasion resistance, is determined by the world-recognized 'Martindale' fabric rub test. During this test, a sample of fabric is pressed against metal discs and rubbed at a certain speed in a circular motion until at least two threads of fabric are broken. Test results are presented in the number of cycles. The more cycles, the more resistant the fabric is. The fabric may be used for furniture if the result of this test is more than 5000 rubbing cycles.

Pilling resistance

The lint-resistant fabric is assessed by a special 'Piling' test. During the test, the fabric's surface resistance to lint formation during friction is determined. The results are visually evaluated from 1 to 5 points compared to the original example of the fabric. 1 means that the fabric tends to collect lint, 5 - fabric is lint-resistant.

Colour fading resistance:

Colour fading resistance

The light resistance test examines fabric's resistance to discoloration. During this test, the example of the fabric is exposed for a certain period of time to lamps simulating ultraviolet sunlight. The results are presented in scoring 1 to 8. Completely non-discolouring fabrics are marked with 8 and the least resistant - 1.
